(Honolulu, HI) The Hawai‘i Bowl and Teach for America Hawai‘i are teaming up to help empower Nānākuli – Wai‘anae Complex area teachers. Through ten $1,000 “Extra Yard for Teachers Innovations Grants,” the two organizations are offering financial suppport to innovative projects created and realized by our local teachers.

Current teachers in the Nānākuli – Wai‘anae Complex area are invited to apply for a grant at In their applications, they are asked to describe their projects, the potential impact of their projects and how the grant will assist them in their project execution.

Information on how applications will be scored may be found at  All applications are due by Sunday, November 25, 2018. Grant recipients will be notified by the first week of December.

Additionally, the ten awardees will be honored during the Hawai‘i Bowl football game Saturday, December 22 at Aloha Stadium. We encourage the entire community to come out and celebrate Hawaii’s inspiring teachers.

The “Extra Yard for Teachers Innovation Grants” are made possible through the generous support of the Hawai‘i Bowl Foundation, the Mountain West Conference, the College Football Playoff Foundation and Teach For America Hawai‘i.
